General Surgery Procedures

Dr. Curcio is an experienced surgeon and has performed hundreds of operations. She has specific expertise in using laparoscopy techniques that are characterized as minimally invasive procedures. There are a number of surgical procedures that can be fully done or greatly aided by using laparoscopic techniques. Their use in any one case is determined on an individual basis by Dr. Curcio and the patient.

In general, lapraoscopic procedures offer several benefits when their use is indicated as follows:

Some of the procedures that lend themselves to the laparoscopic techniques that Dr. Curcio performs are:

• Hernia repair -The repair of inguinal, umbilical or incisional hernias

• Appendectomy

• Melanoma surgery-The surgical treatment of melanoma including sentinel lymph node biopsy as well as therapeutic lymph node dissection if needed.
