Breast Cancer Articles   Weight Gain Linked to Increased Breast Cancer Risk While there is not much that we can do about the increasing incidence of breast cancer, there are things that we can do in our own lives to modify our risks. We know, for instance that weight gain after our teenage years is associated with an increased risk for breast cancer and certainly other diseases. There is a recent article in the Journal of the American Medical Association showing that even small amounts of weight gain can increase risk. The risk is proportional to the amount of weight gained and appeared to be consistent. Remarkably, weight loss after the age of 18 and after menopause can decrease your breast cancer risk.
